n 2007 Mary Fellowes was appointed Fashion Editor by The Economist, the first and only one to ever hold this position, for their new cultural title Intelligent Life (now called 1843). There she created a style section which she co-edited, styled fashion stories for, and wrote her own features for, as well as commissioning fashion writers including Sarah Mower and Tim Blanks. During this period she continued to consult for several British designers such as Temperley on runway shows, collections, look books and campaigns.

fter a fashion degree at Central St Martins, Mary assisted Isabella Blow in 2000, then went to assist in the fashion department at ES Magazine. She went to Vogue UK for 4 years in the fashion department, assisting the Fashion Directors, and also writing and styling editorials and advertorials.
Between 2005-2007 she freelanced for Conde Nast International styling fashion stories during their launches of Vogue China, Vogue India.
She also contributed fashion and beauty stories to Vogue Japan, Vogue Italia and Vogue Spain and portrait stories for Teen Vogue and Vogue USA. She also dressed household name celebrities and musicians, and styled fashion shows in Tokyo, and worked with Mario Testino styling two charity assignments.

Condé Nast approached her in 2009 to help launch the first ever edition of Vogue in a Muslim country -Turkey. As their Fashion Director, she commissioned Mert and Marcus, Patrick Demarchelier, Arthur Elgort and Terry Richardson) as well as fine art photographers, and film maker Larry Clarke. Overseeing teams in London, Istanbul and New York, she also worked closely across all areas of the magazine, advising on front of book / fashion features, beauty and lifestyle as well as working closely with the online team and in 2012 pioneered the first ever Glossy Magazine shoot democratically cast through Facebook, for a multi-media project with legendary fine art photographer Maripol. In late 2011, Condé Nast appointed her to create the fashion section of a new quarterly cultural title, Baku Magazine. As Fashion Director she styled fashion stories, helped with fashion coverage across the magazine and wrote on celebrity, art and fashion.
From 2012-2017, based between New York and Los Angeles, she focused on digital content and the entertainment industry. In addition to being Style Editor at TheAesthete.com which comprised profiling leading cultural and arts figures, in 2014 she edited Milkmade.com (the online home of Milk Studios) around the Fall/Winter shows. Managing multiple teams of producers, writers and photographers and back end tech support, her output involved curating, art directing, editing and writing, as well as creating video content, across all digital platforms. She also continued her freelance styling (celebrity and main fashion) for Vogue USA, Vogue Japan, Teen Vogue, Harpers Bazaar Latin America and Japan, Esquire USA, Interview (online) among others.

n 2016 she worked as a freelance art director at Amazon Fashion for social media trends projects and a special project with Sarah Jessica Parker shoes, continued celebrity shoots for Yahoo Style, and at Pop Sugar’s Shopstyle she worked closely with the art director to curate the trends and product for two campaigns which she she styled. Since 2015, she has been contributing to Vogue Russia styling fashion and celebrity, and writing extensively on the arts for them in print, and submitting supporting social content.
Since 2017 Mary has been based in London and created custom online and social content (both features and videos) on style for Furthermore, the editorial outlet of U.S. wellness brand Equinox.
Alongside her continuing work for Vogue Russia, she has contributed travel content to Tatler and hip travel app Porter and Sail, and has recently been focused on red carpet styling for household names from entertainment, including Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge, new Star Wars and Game of Thrones talent Naomi Ackie, and Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA winner Olivia Colman.
